simply being

An inspired day.. a nostalgic dream. I took myself  back in time for this shoot. The dress is circa 1967, the year of my parents wedding, the dress is my mothers, the model is her grand daughter x

from little things.. take two

oh what a wonderful 6 months + a bit I have had. I must say starting your own business overnight and leaving the day job for good was a daunting process, lets say a journey into self belief... I LOVE my photography and I never thought I would be doing it full time, but only because it was 'the fantasy job of my dreams'.. yes its like partying like a rockstar every day, except for the bit where you are editing and doing admin and trying to remember what your password and pulling your hair out because you dont' have a tech person..and learning.. learning .. learning.  APART from that it is fabulous.
So rebranding here I come. I am so lucky to  have had many clients who have signed up for their weddings, and portraits, and given such support to make me want to push myself further, oh the ideas are endless and I get slightly excited thinking of new possiblities.
Enter Peppermint Studios.. because?  Because of many reasons, but mainly for a fresh start .. a celebration of new and exciting things, a world of endless possiblities. I should sing (I am really good at singing in the shower .. for some reason without the steam and bathroom acoustics...hmmm not so good)
So peppermint is my current happiness, and a work in progress, I even labored over a new website which you can check out  HERE ...and like a little acorn, has started from little things.
Thank you to all those lovelies for your support. thanks a million x t

all the pennies in the wishing well..

To say you have been blessed to have children is such an understatement. To have a house buzzing with such an abundance of energy, laughter and love is something we sometimes take for granted. I think it gets kind of crazily mixed up with picking up toys and wiping up the left over mushy weetbix off the kitchen bench..
Still, it is amazing how the sound of a childs laughter can erase all memory of the sleepless night, or the sticky fingered ambush of your favorite beige woolen scarf.. It is all erased with just one look.
What would we be without our parents love? it shapes us and makes us.
The laughter the smiles and the hugs (a nuzzle) .. for all the pennies, you wouldn't change it.

Giving it and getting it. The following family session had me thinking... like a ray of sunshine and playing bed bugs on a Saturday morning, this was all before we even went out on our portrait shoot.
Here is a snippet of a 'day in the life'.A life session ... stay tuned for MORE

Underneath the Mango trees..

Well, after three weeks holiday with NO internet, NO makeup, NO stress..(If I  have stress in my life?) It is nice to be back to work and although I am clearly missing the long warm days by the pool, my skin is also really feeling good. A holiday is a refreshing thing, you get to think about all the things you could do and you see it from a different light.. from the outside looking in.
So back to work I go.. refreshed and energized before the new season starts, it won't be long  before that sun haze hits us, and It will be just like being underneath the mango trees again, feeling the warmth on my skin and watching the sun haze through the trees (camera please!)

Lucky me, whilst I was away I met a gorgeous young girl and her ponies. Miss Chels reminded me of the horse mad girl I knew growing up?   This post reminded me of that lovely quote.. 'all horses deserve, at least once in their lives, to be loved by a little girl'..something tells me this little girl is almost all grown up? where did the time go?  I'm sure she will probably always remember that first love.

 x enjoy

little sister

I'm a little sister. I always wanted to be the big sister, I wanted to be the one who could lick the bowl first. I wanted to be so cool I owned my very own cassette player, I wanted a pair of brand new desert boots.
I wanted to the blonde one in AbbA.  But alas always the less- awesomest one, always with the hand me downs, always littlest.
Looking back on my poor second best childhood, and yes, I know we 'second borns' may play the victim fiddle a bit, but now that we are grown up, we know that it was a just a  'little sister' survival tool.

Memories of dobbing on my sister aside, seriously I was happy to have the barbie doll clothes she didn't want, we laugh about it now.

My big sister was everything I wanted to be. That little shadow.

So Little Sisters.. this post is for all the big sisters  (and the in between sisters.. I don't have any knowledge of them??)  or the soul sisters, you know who you are?.. you shaped us and lets face it , you really  don't have anyone in the world like your sister.

And on that note, here is a recent shoot featuring one great fun 'little sister' Lisa and her beautiful big sis Jacinta, thanks for the fun fun time girls and enjoy x
PS brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr someone pass me a nice bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup@I love winter

His little hand wrapped around your finger..

Mothers day is  around the corner and we are getting ready for the onslaught of all those hallmark moments Breakfasts in bed, Chocolates, roses. For me its more about the little things, I know I personally cringed to a friend the other day  about the amount of 'hand made craft items' I will receive and the fact they will make bacon and eggs for me, even though I don't like that, but it IS their favourite. Mothers day for me is just enjoying it while it lasts. Its when your two year old tells you you're beautiful and that you  look like the red Telly Tubby  in the same sentence ( I was pregnant for the record!)  , its when you get the most special and most treasured gift, a feather they found with some chook poo still on it, and best of all its the little hand wrapped around your finger so tight like they never want to let go....

So on that note I introduce this next little family I had the pleasure in capturing, Dad, two mini 'men' and one gorgeous Mum Ms Lauren, who with one on the way, looked incredibly more like a Ralph Lauren model than anything remotely near a Telly Tubby!  enjoy x and PS thanks guys for coming out to Ganmain and enjoying the fresh air in my part of the country,

Louise + Ross

you may recognize the  lovely Lou and Ross from their earlier engagement session ..HERE
well the wedding day was everything and more. A good old fashioned country romance, with lots of laughs and the occasional wedding day drama.. in this case not one, but two flat car batteries. I LOVE that this couple get a 'suitable country wedding day story to tell to their grandkids'..  Louise and Ross it was clear that this was going to be a beautiful story from the first time I met you. I had a ball and didn't want to stop shooting even after the sun went down. So here is the story of the gorgeous porcelain skinned girl meets her rugged farmer boy. congratulations again and enjoy x
