little sister

I'm a little sister. I always wanted to be the big sister, I wanted to be the one who could lick the bowl first. I wanted to be so cool I owned my very own cassette player, I wanted a pair of brand new desert boots.
I wanted to the blonde one in AbbA.  But alas always the less- awesomest one, always with the hand me downs, always littlest.
Looking back on my poor second best childhood, and yes, I know we 'second borns' may play the victim fiddle a bit, but now that we are grown up, we know that it was a just a  'little sister' survival tool.

Memories of dobbing on my sister aside, seriously I was happy to have the barbie doll clothes she didn't want, we laugh about it now.

My big sister was everything I wanted to be. That little shadow.

So Little Sisters.. this post is for all the big sisters  (and the in between sisters.. I don't have any knowledge of them??)  or the soul sisters, you know who you are?.. you shaped us and lets face it , you really  don't have anyone in the world like your sister.

And on that note, here is a recent shoot featuring one great fun 'little sister' Lisa and her beautiful big sis Jacinta, thanks for the fun fun time girls and enjoy x
PS brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr someone pass me a nice bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup@I love winter

His little hand wrapped around your finger..

Mothers day is  around the corner and we are getting ready for the onslaught of all those hallmark moments Breakfasts in bed, Chocolates, roses. For me its more about the little things, I know I personally cringed to a friend the other day  about the amount of 'hand made craft items' I will receive and the fact they will make bacon and eggs for me, even though I don't like that, but it IS their favourite. Mothers day for me is just enjoying it while it lasts. Its when your two year old tells you you're beautiful and that you  look like the red Telly Tubby  in the same sentence ( I was pregnant for the record!)  , its when you get the most special and most treasured gift, a feather they found with some chook poo still on it, and best of all its the little hand wrapped around your finger so tight like they never want to let go....

So on that note I introduce this next little family I had the pleasure in capturing, Dad, two mini 'men' and one gorgeous Mum Ms Lauren, who with one on the way, looked incredibly more like a Ralph Lauren model than anything remotely near a Telly Tubby!  enjoy x and PS thanks guys for coming out to Ganmain and enjoying the fresh air in my part of the country,

Louise + Ross

you may recognize the  lovely Lou and Ross from their earlier engagement session ..HERE
well the wedding day was everything and more. A good old fashioned country romance, with lots of laughs and the occasional wedding day drama.. in this case not one, but two flat car batteries. I LOVE that this couple get a 'suitable country wedding day story to tell to their grandkids'..  Louise and Ross it was clear that this was going to be a beautiful story from the first time I met you. I had a ball and didn't want to stop shooting even after the sun went down. So here is the story of the gorgeous porcelain skinned girl meets her rugged farmer boy. congratulations again and enjoy x

send out a little love

Listening to the gorgeous Katie Noonan last night in downtown Wagga Wagga with the beautiful String Orchestra, Vivaldi, Violins, and sublime girl company. I WANT to play a Cello like a goddess and close my eyes and feel the music.. if only ONLY I could have picked up the Strattus Various when I was a girl instead of playing my hand at the Recorder.
I really had such a wonderful time and with school holidays and lots of chasing butterflies, and sunsets, autumn leaves and playing til dark it is hard not to be happy... like our gorgeous Miss Lily. Thank you Sam and children, it was such a pleasure to photograph your little ones and this shoot is still making my smile.
Just like Katie Noonan sang... tomorrow is a new day, send out a little love to a stranger.. and send out a little love to you too. Happy Easter  x

Nate + Chelsea

I met Chelsea and Nate over a sparkling water, a hundred conversations about life, and copy of Frankie.. I knew we would be friends. Not only were they going to be heaps of  fun, but because the mission meant a complete 'undercover agent job', also known as the  SURPRISE wedding (an Engagement party with a twist) The task was bigger than Farrah Fawcetts hair, and I think I was in my Charlies Angels element,  acting out as Chelsea's long lost cousin..oh the secrecy, the simple, blissful fun.
There was so much happiness squeezed into this day it was too hard to choose my favourite moment. Possibly the gorgeous glowing bride who was just so busy beaming that she 'didn't get around' to the bouquet..or our  very handsome bow tied groom who picked her a  posy of wildflowers when we were out on our photo shoot. Swoonsville...The way he looked at her.
The moment of truth did of course bring a few tears and an uncanny instant array of texting and phone messaging to settle all bets. YES they are getting married, finally and for real. I am NOT really Chelsea's cousin, but a new friend I would definitely say. Thank you a hundred times over for letting me share such a beautiful day, for riding your bicycles, for wearing your gumboots and  for for laughing it up.

enjoy x

to style or not to style.. that is the question

I met a wonderfully talented and amazing photographer recently, .. no names, (lives is in a 100 km radius..) anyway we were talking  about styles of weddings we have shot and he told me about this one were they had a old suitcases and all this stuff, and he told me (rolling his eyes) he doesn't do 'that stuff''. No don't get me wrong I love and greatly respect this photographer, but see its here I need to differ.
Firstly its not my fault that I like a bit of Styling. I blame my Mum. When a was a really little girl I thought that my Mum was a movie star, she was so beautiful, not only that she had these really cool pointy high heels that ONLY  a movie star would wear, plus a complete giveaway she had a collection of old Movie Go'ers books..like Womens Weekly 1950's style. I remember the photography  clearly.. the candid snaps of Lana Turner or someone like that in her pointy bathing costume (there was a lot of pointy stuff), running down the beach with her red setter.. oh for love!

So that brings me here to the question, to style or not to style?  Look at it this way. If you are getting married and you both have a PHD in Physics and you are wearing matching Star Wars suits (OK, he is Hans Solo, you are Princess Leah) , I hate to say this ,but you have just styled your wedding. The fact that my style is anything vintage or retro or out of the pages of Frankie  Magazine is not the issue here (give me a break I just want to be pretty!!)  The fact is that you have a style regardless of if you 'style it' or not. So the moral of the story is don't apologies for the suitcases or suspender belts instead.. bring it, love it.
Special credit for this photoshoot to AB for growing the Fleabane.. also to good friends KS, your beauty comes from within.
enjoy x

the good life

Wedding season is finally here, thinking all things pretty, polished cars, little embossed invitation cards, Shoes that sparkle, and flowers a bloom. A bit of a leap out of that zone for this recent family shoot. The brief was to capture the farm family 'at work'.  Farm life has never been this much fun, and a mob of sheep have never been more confused!..into the pen, out of the pen, people being told to go 'way back' and dogs just looking on in dazed confusion.

Think dust, sheep, hats and boots (no Jimmy Choo!) and not a single glass of champagne for miles, but the beer was good. This wasn't a photo shoot, this was just some good old farm fun. I love my job x
